PEST CONTROL TREATMENTS

Please note; Contract customers will receive a manual and log book with the amount of visits agreed.

Treatment of Fleas

Customers can expect:-

that the property be surveyed to determine the extent of the infestation;

to have all affected rooms treated, where safe to do so;

to be given information about the treatment and a safety information sheet;

to have a re-treatment carried out in the unlikely event that the first was not effective;

customers should note that fleas will be seen for a few days after treatment and should therefore wait 10 days before asking for a retreatment.

Immediately prior to treatment customers must:-

vacuum up floors, furniture, including cracks and crevices, especially where pets are likely to have been and throw away the vacuum bag;

remove equipment/toys etc. from the floor and disconnect electrical equipment;

ensure that adults who suffer from Asthma, animals, fish and children are not in the property at the time of treatment;

treat and cats and dogs for fleas and wash their bedding in hot water or destroy bedding;

ensure that foodstuffs or sensitive materials are put away.

After treatment customers must:-

ensure that children do not crawl over treated floors without washing hands afterwards, or lick treated surfaces;

not vacuum for up to 10/14 days after treatment;

keep children, pets, asthma sufferers out of the treated rooms until the treatment is dry (normally a few hours)

Treatment of Bed Bugs

Customers can expect:-

that the property be surveyed to determine the extent of the infestation;

that treatment will include cracks and crevices in rooms and furniture including mattresses. Sheets and other bedding and clothing likely to come in contact with people will not be sprayed;

to be given information by the technician about what needs doing prior to and following treatment, to ensure it is effective;

to be given information about the treatment and a safety information sheet;

to receive a revisit 10-14 days after treatment to judge it’s effectiveness;

Customers must:-

thoroughly vacuum their property prior to treatment (paying particular attention to cracks and crevices in furniture and room) and dispose of any vacuum bags;

strip beds prior to treatment and remove any clothing/toys etc. from floors and furniture, and disconnect electrical equipment;

launder sheets/bedding in a hot wash, or dry clean, immediately prior to treatment;

ensure that adults who suffer from Asthma, animals, fish and children are not in rooms to be treated at the time of treatment;

not vacuum for 10-14 days after treatment.

Treatment of Cockroaches

Customers can expect:-

to have a full survey of the property. Treatment may not always be commenced on the first visit;

to have follow up visits to treat and monitor the effectiveness of treatment. At least 3 visits will be carried out in total including the initial treatment;(contracts will differ)

customers should note that these visits may be spread over several weeks to be effective;

to be kept informed about the method of treatment and how it is progressing;

to be advised about safety aspects of the treatment and left an information sheet;

Customers should note:-

that although Pest-Pro will do it’s best to eradicate an infestation there are some circumstances where it is not possible to do this.

Treatment of Rats and Mice

Customers can expect:-

to have a full survey of the property carried out normally accompanied by treatment in the form of poison baits;

at least one follow up visit to determine the effectiveness of treatment;

further follow up visits until the rodents have been eliminated;

for adjoining properties to be surveyed if also likely to be affected, subject to the agreement of the occupier;

be informed of where baits have been placed and to be kept informed of how the treatment is progressing;

to be advised on safety regarding the treatment and to be left an information sheet about the treatment including what action to take in an emergency;

that all baits will be removed at the end of treatment;

that all rodent dead bodies found on the property will be removed by the technician, except where they are inaccessible;

to be offered advice about “hygiene” and/or proofing to prevent further infestations.

Customers should note:-

The technician will not carry out any building or other works, apart from treatment; where floor boards, tiles etc. need to be lifted this is the customer’s responsibility;

although Pest-Pro will do it’s best to eradicate an infestation there are some circumstances where it is not possible to guarantee this as re-infestations can occur from other areas.

Treatment of Wasps

Customers can expect:-

the wasps to be destroyed within 3 days of treatment. If not, a re-treatment will be offered free of charge;

to be asked to remove any sensitive equipment/objects under the nest which might become contaminated with dust or spray;

Customers should note:-

The nest itself will not be removed (wasps do not occupy old nests in following years).

Treatment of Squirrels

Customers can expect:-

Squirrels in loft spaces or outbuildings etc.

Squirrels to be trapped and removed as quickly as possible.

Trapped squirrels will not be released only to return later.

When you release a (rogue) squirrel that has been raised in a structure, it looks for another home of a similar nature. If he can, he'll come back to your house!

Traps are very powerful with no suffering.

Advice on proofing.

Please note:-

Squirrels compromise our health and security by carrying diseases, soil our attics, walls or crawlspaces. Squirrels can be quite destructive, damaging electric or alarm wiring as well as personal possessions.

Treatment of Pharaoh Ants

Control: A thorough survey by professional personnel is highly recommended. Pharaoh's ants are most often found in areas near a source of moisture such as a kitchen or bathroom. The use of conventional residual treatments is generally not effective as they may cause the nest to fragment. Baiting may be effective if the active ingredient is slow acting. Good results have been shown by using juvenile hormone based treatments. The treatment consists of applying bait to areas frequented by the ants, which works by stopping the ants breeding and so they naturally die off. You will usually notice a reduction in the number of ants within 28 days, but it may take longer to kill off all the ants. Although modern treatments are very effective, there are rare occasions when it does not completely work.

Description: The pharaoh's ant is a small ant of tropical origin. The workers are only 2mm long, the queen 5mm long and both are yellow in colour. The ant has a characteristic double segmented waist and a darkened tip to the abdomen.

Biology: In temperate climates it is an indoor species, associated particularly with large facilities such as hospitals, prisons and blocks of flats. Unlike some other ant species, the queen may be replaced by other queens. This is an important feature to bear in mind during control, as new queens can be produced when needed resulting in colonies which are able to split. There can be many queens within a single colony. Pharaoh's ants can reproduce in two ways, firstly when a colony is big enough it produces males that fly from the nest and find another colony where they will mate. Secondly by budding, where a scout finds a new suitable nest site and some workers and a queen migrate to it to form a new nest.
